EDTS, a leading I.T. provider with headquarters in Augusta, made an announcement Wednesday morning that it will be launching a cyber program called EDTS Cyber.
Many may believe that cybercrime will not happen to them, the cost of online crime has already more than $3 trillion and expected to double in the next four years.

EDTS and EDTS Cyber are expected to move this summer to the new Augusta Cyberworks campus at Sibley Mill, another big development for downtown. Johnson said the two companies currently employee more than 75 I.T. and security experts, and they expect to double that number in the next 3-5 years. Many of those new employees will come from the CSRA.

This is great new for MAU workforce. By the way the headquarter is located downtown Augusta.

MAU is growing again. The giant staffing company is based on Greene Street and just grew exponentially overnight by buying FutureStaff, a metro Atlanta based company.

Since 1982, FutureStaff has been a provider of customized staffing solutions in the metro east and south Atlanta areas. Their services include contingent staffing, temp to hire, and direct hire. To learn more about FutureStaff, visit Light Industrial & Clerical Staffing Companies in Atlanta.

As for MAU this will be their 10th MAU office in Georgia, South Carolina, Tennesee and Utah and provides on site help to larger clients in Charleston and Greenwood, South Carolina.

So here's where I'm confused. I always thought the land along the river between 10th and 13th was going to eventually be "paved" with bricks and become a part of the Riverwalk. Is this what is going to happen, or will it just be a dirt trail?

Downtown Y Getting New Riverfront Home | Buzz On Biz

Danny McConnell, president and CEO of the Family Y, made the announcement Monday afternoon in the lobby of Discovery Plaza, home of Unisys and formerly Fort Discovery, on Reynolds Street.

“We chose to have this press conference in Discovery Plaza because as soon as the renovations are done, this will be our new home,” he said.

Unisys occupies half of the first floor and the Y will take over the east half of the floor. McConnell promised an aggressive renovation schedule. Services in the current facility will end on Dec. 31 and the new facility will open on Jan. 1, 2018.

A few weeks ago, TaxSlayer announced that it had purchased the building on Broad Street that has housed the Y for the past six years. The Y decided to find a new location because renovation costs to the current building would have exceeded $5 million.

The plans for the new downtown Y include a large fitness area (in green) with a wall of glass facing the river (at top). The other colored squares are locker rooms, a spin room and an aerobics room.

After renovations in Discovery Plaza, the new YMCA facility will house a large cardio and weight training area with a wall of glass overlooking the Savannah River and a separate large facility for group activities. The new location also opens up possibilities for outdoor activities and possibly using the river. However, there will not be a pool.

One of the key additions to the new facility will be parking. The Y members will have access to the building’s parking garage.

After announcing the new location, McConnell had one more surprise – a name change. When the facility opens in January it will be known as Riverfront YMCA.
