Asking for a 27 yo friend who just finished welding program and was hired to work on a three-year project at the plant in/near Waynesboro. He doesn't know about city data. Him and his soon-to-be wife are moving in June, but he'll check it out before then. He's going to be making good money and wants a nice, safe place. I really don't know anything about the area either - more isolated than I thought. Waynesboro itself has 42% of residents living below poverty according to Wiki. Are there decent spots in Waynesboro or neighboring communities? What about Augusta's southern burbs?

Thanks.

Off the top of my head the only place that is in south Augusta itself is probably the Gracewood area other than that its a roll of the dice as there is a higher than normal poverty level in a number of neighborhoods in a large % of households down there.
No, if the job pays well the best option is probably finding something down in Waynesboro itself with a garage and getting a very good security system installed.
That or buying a small plot of land and buying a trailer and toughing it out for 3 years while saving up the money to buy a house somewhere else when the job is over.
