Its only natural to get bored of Austin after a certain period of time. I have only been here like 5 months and I am already bored of Austin, BIG TIME! But I hate to break it to you, but no matter where you move, you are going to get tired of it. I wouldn't suggest moving out of Austin, because more than likely you will be hopping out of the pan into the fire (the rest of the country sucks too! lol) If anything, I would suggest you travel to other cities and states and maybe spend a month or two there instead of relocating. This will allow you to see more of the world and ease the boring feeling. Good luck to you.

You had to go and make me homesick, didn't you?!?

The Glass and Davis Mountains are both over 5,000 ft.

So you've actually driven it and been there and already knew about them?

And is it further than to the closest mountains in other states?

I just google them, and found they are generally to the west. I've driven on I10 before, and when it is close to New Mexico, it is like on Mars... It would be nice if they are just 1-2 hours away or best within 30-min

They are DEFINITELY to the west.

So you've been to Mars, too, huh?

Well, I used Mapquest and discovered that Fort Davis is 6 hours, give or take, from Austin. The next closest mountains are in New Mexico. Now, THAT is a flat drive.

If you want to live within half an hour of mountains 5,000 feet or taller, you're going to have to move down to south Texas, or you're going to have to move to one of the states that is pretty much all mountains, and you're going to have to give up some other things in the process. It's all a matter of priorities.
