Black family currently living in louisiana looking to get away it is time for a change. I was raised in Pennsylvania and loved it and move back to louisiana when i was 17. I would like to raise my children in a different atmosphere other than the Louisiana. My fiance' has sisters and brothers that live in texas and i thought that the outskirts of Austin would be a nice place to raise children. Can anyone tell me what would be a nice area to live. It would be convienent if there were stores close by. Don't want to live in a all black neighborhood would prefer an intergrated area.

I'm a PA transplant myself! And I too love my great home state. I think you will find Austin to be a good place to raise a family. But to be more specific on areas, we'll need some more info. Where are you going to be working? How much are you looking to spend? Etc.?

The only drawback to Austin is that it's not really very diverse. I was born and raised in the Philly 'burbs. The part of PA I am from, and the parts of LA I am familiar with had a much more diverse population than Austin.

I agree, we need some more info. Specifically, where do you plan to work and how much do you want to spend? There are lots of nice areas in and around Austin that are good for raising kids and based on your budget, we can help point you towards areas that have some amount of diversity.

What are the areas such as Pfluggerville, Round Rock, and maybe even Cedar Park like? I figure somewhere like that should be nice. Although we will be renting at first, sometime later on we will be interested in buying.
