I would like to get some names of good restaurants in the Austin area that tend to have a younger population. I am new to Austin and I am interested in locating restaurants, maybe in the downtown area that are not terribly expensive. Just seems so hard to meet people in my age group (29 year old male) and thought it may help to know of some areas that are popular to the younger crowd. Not necessarily bars, as that tends to get old pretty fast. And not only areas that are popular with college kids. Any suggestions are appreciated. All types of cuisine welcome.

Thanks!

I feel like Austin is a town full of people in that age range and you'll find people in their 20s & 30s at any restaurant. Perhaps if you tell us what type of food you like, we can recommend some places that would be good to try.

We are big fans of Kerbey Lane, which has a lot of types of food. Open 24 hours, has counter seating that's good if you're dining alone (strike up a conversation with the person next to you!), and their food is cheap & tasty. There's several around town and you can always find a wide variety of people dining there.
