The lady that got the croutons grows her own vegetables at home and cans them. Also, her husband hunts and shoots deer for meat. The stuff she gets with coupons is all filler like rice, croutons, condiments, paper and cleaning products. That stuff can add up. She stocks up on the side stuff and adds it to her meat and veggies as needed. I'd say she's pretty thrifty.

Many stores just killed double and triple coupons very recently. Stores like Target, CVS, Kroger cracking down on extreme couponing | abc13.com

Yep, I'm headed for a new CVS 'grand opening' with coupons in hand! Kroger stopped the online 'printed' coupons a few years ago because of consumer abuse(actually more employee abuse, from what I read). Our closest CVS has all sorts of trouble with 'coupon queens' as they are called, always trying to game the system, trying to use multiple coupons for one item, demanding rainchecks, etc. I wouldn't think it would be that tough to limit coupon use...just takes a little planning by the vendor and retailer.

I am one of those Coupon Queens. I even teach an Extreme Couponing class, and yes.. I ask for rainchecks when shelves have been cleared.
Ok, now that I got that out of the way... I do not "game the system" and I never try to use coupons fraudulently (using more coupons than the # of products I have purchased, among other things). I do not demand a raincheck, but I will politely ask for one. I see the same checkers frequently and I am always very friendly with them. Yes, I use coupons, a lot of coupons, but I am nice about it. I do not clog lines (I will others go ahead of me rather than clog the line), nor do I use expired, incorrect, or copied coupons.
However, I do go to CVS and purchase $200 worth of merchandise for $5. I keep about 10 boxes of cereal in my home. With expiration dates of nearly a year in the future, I think I have a little while to go through them. And, with a 17 year old athlete, we go through a lot of everything! People keep saything things like "that's just hoarding", but in the 30's when you grandparents/great grandparents kept stockpiles of food and other necessities no one thought that odd. What is the difference?
My extreme couponing feeds my family, helps out my neighbors when times get tough, and the overflow goes to a less fortunate elementary school that has many students that are food insecure.

Personally, I have a problem with the show but not with the concept. I love getting things for almost free, but on the show they feature people spending their entire grocery budget on Tic-Tacs, first aid kits, Mustard, and other pointless items. That is not grocery shopping, that is merely shopping to shop.

I am trying to get better at couponing. I don't think that I could ever have the inventory that some of the extreme couponers have (don't have the space) but there are things that I am working on building a stockpile of and if I can get them really cheap with coupons then I will most definitely have a stock of that stuff.

Having said that - I work 40+ hours a week and am a single parent - I don't have the time to invest in Extreme Couponing that some of these people do!

But, I do love when I go to the store and can save $50 with coupons!

I like RetailMeNot.com for deals and coupons. Techbargains is only good for tech-related stuff, so, that might be more relevant here.

Not exactly a coupon; but I've eaten lunch with DW for a week using BOGO certificates received for my birthday. Just sign up your email at your favorite restaurant(fast casual for our lunches, usually) and you will likely get the same. Better than a poke in the eye, as they say, saving $6-10 on each lunch. On a couple, it was a fee app with an entree...that works just fine for us .

While we're at it...Entertainment Books are really cheap this time of the year. In just one day, I saved $11 on a car wash, $7 on lunch and got a BOGO deal on dinner. The $7 lunch savings paid for the book! The deals run out in November, so you need to move briskly; but it's easy to save 10x the cost of the book in short order.

Forgot to mention, CVS also sent me a $3 coup to use toward anything, no minimum. Every little bit saved at CVS helps and , oddly enough, there's a CVS right down the street on the corner
.

I'm perfectly OK with others doing "ultra-couponing" just as long as they are not in front of me in the checkout line. It's not nearly as much fun to watch someone saving half their grocery bill with coupons when you are stuck behind them for an extra 20 minutes in line.

I do think they should be required to attach "slow moving vehicle" flags to their carts as a warning. And supermarkets should offer "10 coupons or less" express lanes for the rest of us.

It's possible if you want to fill your body with filth and toxic chemicals. Those are the only things that are given triple coupons. I tried to get into it for awhile and failed because I'm healthy and try not to buy things with 200+ ingredients in them. Nobody is handing out coupons for spinach.
