Thinking about Montessori schools for the little guy and curious to know what the rates around around town so we know what to expect. Any input will be appreciated!

I think Blue Bonnet Montessori in Lakeway (recommended) is $8-9k per year for full time primary (k-3). I think half days are $4-5k per year, but I'm not sure.

$7K to $9K is not unusual.

Thank you. How have your experiences been in the schools your children are attending (including ROI). I'm in the midst of researching private vs. montessori vs. public now.

Are you looking for preschool? or elementary? or both? And what's ROI?

I would do it again in a second. I had both my kids in Montessori from about 3 yrs old. My daughter just skipped 4th and is now a 5th grader at Paragon Prep middle school (another recommendation). My son is in 2nd grade now.

Every kid is different, so it is hard to generalize, but I think the individualized attention and the fact that each kid goes at his/her own pace really allows advanced kids not to be held back, and slower kids not to be rushed. I don't really know, I'm just pleased with the results.

Be careful to check out the school though. Some montessori schools I visited when I moved to Austin 6 years ago seemed to be glorified day care. My daughter was 4 then and reading well (from her previous montessori). One montessori school we visited did not have any reading material at her level, and they had kids up to 5-6 years old. It was not a good sign.

Our real problem was how/when to transition them to 'regular' school. As one teacher at Paragon put it: your kids aren't likely to go to a Montessori high school so they need to transition at some point. Figuring out how to do that switch is the hard part.

We've also had a great experience with Montessori and would love to continue on with them if we can ever get to Austin. Would you mind telling us the name of the Montessori that you're so happy with? Please feel free to DM me if you'd prefer. Thanks!

About $800/mo for a half day preschool program seems to be about average south of the river.
