Need a new one. Hate spending the money but we sold the current one with our home in CO. Aside from Best Buy, Home Depot and Lowes, are there any other local stores we should look at? Or any other box retailers here that carry them? TIA.

I just bought one at Sears last week. Better prices than Home Depot and Lowes

I know you wanted 'other than' Lowe's; but, the 620/183 Lowe's usually has quite a few appliances on clearance(frequently along the back wall aisle). Combine the low price(perhaps ask for more discount?) with a 10% 'movers' coupon and Bob's your uncle!

Current HD cardholders can get a 'no interest' plan for the rest of the year, I believe...if that is of interest(get it?).

I'm all for supporting local retailers; but I've never seen consistent 'deals' at local appliance centers. Also, IF you can wait until Memorial Day weekend, we got a rebate, a gift card and a local 'no tax' deal when we moved in '08.(This was from Home Depot, utilizing the 12/12/no/no deal which is not available currently) You might check on SlickDeals.net for upcoming Mem Day deals,IF you can wait.

There is Fry's electronics, they sell lots of other cool gadgets and home stuff too. I've seen AusTex appliances off 183 at Spicewood for years but never walked in the place. There is also an appliance store off Lamar around 183 that sells scratch and dent type stuff. If your going to Lowes then stop by the post office and grab a 10% off coupon from the new movers packet. Sears has been advertising beating any deals from anybody else on lawnmowers not sure on appliances.

Sears and Fry's, great suggestions, thanks. Oh and it's not that I do not want to purchase from HD or Lowes, just want to ensure we're looking at all decent options. I wish we could wait until Memorial Day....

Conn's had one fridge(GE ?) showing a serious markdown from MSRP. 29 sq ft as I recall...might be too big. Can't say I understand the Conn's business model, but it might be worth checking out. Their flier was in Sunday's paper.

Sears does have a pretty good selection and good prices. Giant is a store that specializes in scratch and dent, refurbished and closeout items. I've seen some pretty good deals there. All the other major ones have been listed. If you're not picky about the newest models try craigslist too. I currently have a fridge and dishwasher I bought fairly cheap from CL.

If you're not picky about what you want, all the big box stores have open box clearance deals on appliances. Hit each up and get an idea of your options, then move in on the best deal. I picked up a great range (five burners, two ovens w/ convection) for less than half the price at Lowe's.

I once walked into a Conn's with a price of a flat-screen TV from an online vendor. At first, they told me they couldn't match it. I had to walk-away twice (once, literally out the door) before they agreed to match the price.

I recently bought a refrig at Sears. They will do price matching plus 10%. On the day I was buying, my frig was on sale at Best Buy, so Sears met that price, plus 10%. I ended up getting $330 off. You don't have to do the research - they find the other pricing on their computer in the store. I did thing for my washer and dryer. I went to the Sears Appliance Center at South Park Meadows, but I think any Sears would do it. The delivery went without a hitch, and so far, everything works great.
