I was going to wait for things to calm down but was wondering other people's impressions.

It seems like a good location as that is one of the busier intersections in 78745. Continued growth along Manchaca Rd. south of Slaughter may make this market profitable where the other past ones, e.g. Safeway, AppleTree, at the same location were not.

Now I'm wondering how this will affect the HEB at W. Cannon/S. 1st Street. I know that I no longer need to frequent that dilapidated, poorly run, and poorly stocked store. Seems like most people living east of Congress will probably go to Fiesta or HEB on 35 while those living west of Congress either HEB at Brodie or New Flower.

Interesting that I get a postcard of Sun Harvest coupons yesterday, a set of three $5 Offs with one valid for each of three consecutive weeks. Seems Sun Harvest is scared of the seemingly very similar competition.

Anyway I'm just glad to see some positive development in this area. This might turn out to be more of a a benefit than South Park Meadows which I rarely frequent.

I forgot about the opening, thanks for the reminder! I live closer to the HEB at Brodie but hate the layout. I go to the one at the Y, give me straight lines to walk up and down.

I've noticed they mispronounce "Manchaca" on their TV ads. Obviously not from around here! But looks like a cool store. Seems very similar to Sun Harvest.

I went late last Sunday afternoon and checked it out. There were a LOT of people there and all 7(I think) checkout lanes were open and backed up. I noticed my Natures Own Wheat bread I get at HEB was $1 more at this place. People were lined up at the meat counter so I guess that indicates a product in demand. I didn't see anything I wanted in the packaged meat department but I did see a wide variety of frozen items that looked interesting. Frozen clams in the shell, out of the shell, fish portions and formed cakes like you see on restaurant menus. This may be normal in Whole Food type stores, I don't know as I don't shop there. I couldn't find any Kraft dressing so I guess they don't sell the common stuff I use. They had a TON of Newman's Own products including candy by them.
All in all, it looked to be a very different kind of store for people that have a better developed sense of the finer things than this old gal.
