Anyone use traffic.com ?

Im trying to get an idea of how accurate traffic flow is measured by this site.
Im relocating from San Diego and looking at commute times from variuos parts of Austin to places the other side of down town.. say Dripping springs to Round Rock and Lakeway to Round Rock etc.

I have my sample times set for 8 am... Im guessing that closest to rush hour..but Im getting times like 25 - 35 min from Dripping Springs to Round Rock...

From the description Ive gleaned from this board they just dont seem right.. or are they.

Just did, and it estimated 13 minutes to downtown with traffic.

Sounds accurate.

I would probably adjust it to 7:30am instead of 8:00am as I think a lot of people have to be at work by 8:00am including myself. Also, traffic is definitely worse in the afternoons compared to the mornings so be sure to look at 5:00pm.

Dripping to Round Rock is 40 MILES...unless you're in a helicopter, that's going to take a touch more than 35 minutes. It's not exactly expressway down on the south side.(Actually IS expressway up here in north north Austin as you head toward RR. Of course, once you hit the surface streets, all bets are off.)

Lakeway is a bit 'closer'; but you're looking at close to an hour any time except 3AM on Sunday .

You're in luck...I used to WORK for Traffic.com! The company has offices in all 35+ major cities across the country. They have people monitor traffic from TV, radio, and police and fire dispatch. They also call for hourly reports and investigate traffic details of major accidents (honey, they'll even DRIVE out there)! Traffic.com is the BOMB, baby !!

So the reports I got this am at 7am Austin time say that from Hudson Bend to the center of Austin "SoCo" at the bridge would have ben 18 min..

The route..620 to 71 to SoCo.

And from Lakeway to the same location would have been 14 min... I dunno.. seems optimistic

That sounds optimistic even outside of rush hour.
