Hi there
I posted a few months ago asking about neighbourhoods to relocate to from London. We'll be moving in March/April.
Originally I asked for a child-friendly neighbourhood with a good walkability factor.
Since then, a friend of my husband's colleague has suggested we "House-sit" for him for a year or 2, whilst he takes a sabbatical and tours the world. He lives in NW Hills. I understand it's a decent area, but not very walkable.
Any thoughts?
I'm also looking for a daycare establishment for my 2 year old daughter and from a google search, I've come up with the Children's Center in Jester and The Children's Courtyard in Spicewood Springs Road.
I'd really appreciate any reviews/experience you've had with either these two places. Or even another place that you'd recommend.
We are coming over in December for a recce so will check out both places (and any others) but would like any information good or bad before then.
Thanks in advance
J

Not sure what your definition of walkable is, NW hills is suburban meaning it is all houses but it is safe to walk. Depending on where you live you may or may not be close enough to walk to restaurants and shops. There are just a few areas with commercial in NW hills. The corner of spicewood springs/mesa has some on the North side of NW hills. Then starting around Far west and northledge you can walk down a hill to a big commercial area. Finally the area right around mopac and 2222 is also developed. While you may not be able to walk to stores, shops you can definitely ride a bike.

In the US, most suburbs have the houses all together and the commercial in a different area, vs most european cities that have everything mixed together.

You can put google maps into satellite view and see where the commercial stuff is.

The JCC (jewish community center) lets in anyone, not just jewish kids. It is on far west and is supposed to be pretty good. Im not entirely sure if they have preschool for 2 year olds.

Our 3 yo goes to spicewood country school close to spicewood springs and yaupon. We like it because it is like a farm. They have horses, donkeys, geese a peacock etc.
