We had so much fun yesterday that I felt compelled to share with y'all the fact that Barton Creek is running well and we were able to float from Twin Falls to 360, about an hour and 45 minutes, without getting out of the tubes at all. Its not for tiny kids, there are a few "rapids", but it really is just exciting enough. We also saw a few canoes out if that's your thing.

Mainly it was idyllic. Do it while you can. The last time there was sufficient flow for us to tube was either two or three years back, long enough ago that I can't quite remember. Before you know it the creek will appear as though there hasn't been water in it in a thousand years.

Thanks for the tip! For the tubless among us, where do you get your tubes?

We got ours at Academy. $13 and about the same for a pump that plugs into the outlet in the car.

Out of curiosity, how did you get back to where you started? Is it close enough to walk?

We left a car at 360, and got a ride in another car to Twin Falls, put in there, and floated back down to 360.

It's probably about an hour's hike between the two - given that, on average, the creek was flowing at slower than walking pace, although there were enough fast flowing bits to make it fun. So, more or less, you could hike for a half an hour, say, and get an hour's worth of tubing back to where you parked.

However you do it, it really is such a lovely, low-key, no-tech, fun and gentle thing to have on our doorsteps.

Lets hope we continue to get regular, measurable rain to sustain the flow. A creek without water makes a very sad creek.
