Daughter is having her birthday party next month. There are several kids coming who can't have gluten. Every year, I buy a cake in one flavor, and then get a dozen cupcakes in another flavor.

This year, I was going to do the regular cake again, but get the cupcakes as gluten-free. I've called around to some gluten-free bakeries here in town, and they are all like $3.75 per cupcake. That's crazy. Anyone know of more reasonably priced bakeries to try?

Yes, I know I can make them myself (and I have before), but between battling a chronic illness right now and all the gazillion end-of-year school things this month, I'd rather not. Plus I know from experience that although they'll taste good, they'll look horrible. Cake decorating is not my gift.

BTW, since I have made them myself before, I know they are really not harder or much more expensive to make than regular cupcakes. That's why $45 for a dozen cupcakes seems pretty absurd to me.

You may want to ask if there's anyone on Nextdoor that is a baker and might be able to do it. There are several in my area who advertise on a regular basis.

Quack's Bakery! They have the best selection of gluten-free and vegan treats ever.

Cupprimo and Whole Foods.

Cupprimo does full size and mini gluten free cupcakes. I think they offer 3-4 different daily flavors. Unfortunately, the full size cupcakes are about $3 each. I'm not sure about the minis.

My daughter has a few gluten intolerant kids in her class, and I made a batch of gluten free rice krispie treats and decorated them with icing and colorful sprinkles. They were a hit. Just FYI. Good luck!
