The mosquitos in our yard are so bad this year that we literally can't even go outside for more than a few minutes. We have looked for standing water and found none; it looks like they just come out of the grass and bushes. I really don't want to resort to pesticide all over my yard. Is anyone else dealing with this...what can we do?

May take a while to attract permanent residents but this is your answer if you don't want to use pesticides.

Why so bad? I'd say it has a lot to do with getting a good amount of rain the last few months, compared to last year's horrible drought.

Add in the lack of cold weather which is helpful for killing off a lot of them.

Has anyone had success with those propane-powered skeeter eaters?

I'll take mosquitos over chiggers any day though.
Wet..you get mosquitos.
Dry..you get chiggers.

I put a spray top on a jug of wintergreen flavored mouth wash and spray the general area of my deck. Kepps most at bay and makes my outdoor living smell minty clean. Way cheaper than OFF.

They've been worse. They will be gone soon enough due to the heat and dryness of the summer (although then you'll want to be inside for different reasons!)
