Meh...never needed to have a gun for home protection 45 years. I just don't feel that afraid of the outside world...maybe if I lived in 4th ward in Houston I would think different.

Or out in the country where rattlesnakes show up periodically. There's home protection and then there's home protection.

You apparently have not been to Reds. It lacks some quality issues from the noise, ventilation, and range safety issues.

Lone Star's shotgun range is closed last time I went. Only public range I know of with trap shooting locally is Eagle Peak up on Leander.

Huh. It was fine last time I was there, but it's been a few years.

Well, car957, it's been some time since I've been to Red's (we live a good 50 miles from there now), though I do know people who go there who haven't mentioned the issues you do. In fact, you're the only one I've ever heard mention that.

Clearly you either have a vendetta against Red's or some sort of personal interest in Lone Star.

I was there recently. Have been a few times over the years also. What issues are you talking about? An indoor range is loud. That's why we wear ear protection (required). Ventilation? Smells a bit like gunpowder. OK. Safety issues? Please clarify.

My only problem with Reds is how long I have to wait now.

I've been robbed at gunpoint(not in Austin). I'm not afraid of the outside world; but I'd rather have a gun and not need it vs needing a gun and not having one. YMMV and all that.

Indeed. Plus, guns are just cool.
