Note that the update is that story was incorrect.

The water park is still planned at 16 acres, as originally announced. They're just splitting out the Hotel and retail shopping components.

This is great news! It also states that it will be on a DIFFERENT 16 acre location. They must have realized the traffic nightmare it would be at the formerly proposed location. I'm all for this happening, but couldn't imagine it being on 1431 where they initially wanted to put it.

I have a feeling it will still be very close by the original location. Probably across the street. Just my intuition.

It will be interesting to hear where the new location will be. It makes more sense to me for them to use some of the land along 183A closer to Cedar Park Center. It would be better for businesses in Cedar Park. There are actually hotels closer to that area. The original location was basically in Round Rock and visitors would have little reason to venture any further into Cedar Park as I35 to 1431 would be the main route to get there.

Heard a rumor is that Schlitterbahn is planning something on land near COTA. Might be related.

That location would make sense to me if the Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels didn't exist. I would be really surprised if they built another one South of 620.

Exactly. North of Metro Austin makes a certain amount of sense, but ONLY because it is a water park. Folks with kids sure do like their water parks and a North end location dramatically cuts travel time for a lot of them.

Could be that COTA is trying to attract the hotel/resort part more. They were also in talks with Great Wolf Lodge, supposedly.

Agree, and COTA doesn't seem like it would have the demographic?
