Yes, I saw this too... the data clearly says #5 so the article teeing it up is wrong. I was all excited that there were 15 places hotter than Austin when really there are only 4.

Add in length of heat, which is what most who live here really complain about, and I'm guessing TX cities, unfortunately, win.

The article says among all metro areas we are 16th (361 metro areas in the nation). Among top 50 most populous metro areas we are 5th.

You have to choose the "heat index - 361 metros" tab, not the "50 largest" tab.

Got it..Although its cold comfort to be #16 on this list...I dont think Austin would want to be compared to about 10 of these metros as peers..

Sigh.

I know Austin is where I want to be. Everything I've been looking for in a city is Austin in every aspect. The one (huge) thing that is turning me off is the weather. My ideal weather (as depressing as it sounds) would be Portland, OR-like. I'm not a fan of the heat at all.

This is a constant battle for me right now because as I said, Austin is the place for me; I'm sure of it. I don't know what to do...

I've been here since 06 and every year the summers have been hotter than average (according to weather.com). In 06 they listed the average high temps in june, july, august and september at 90, 95, 96 and 90 respectively. Now they list the avg at 92, 96, 97, 91 respectively. For you long time Austinites were the summers cooler in the old days, and do y'all think we're seeing global warming and just going to get hotter from here?
