They issue warnings. You won't even get that in the city unless you pissed off a cop for something else. No one bothers in Houston, Dallas or Austin. Not sure about San Antonio. The cops in South Texas will definitely pull you over for this, but they're just itching for any excuse to question you.

Visit Texas! Get a Ticket! Woo Hoo!!
Got our tags and licenses on the second day here.

I registered the vehicle here in TX shortly after we arrived. It has TX plates, inspection and registration, just no place to put a front plate so the front plate was under the drivers seat in my car.

No ticket, just a warning. The patrolman was very polite

Hubs called Honda, they want $50 for the bracket so he went to ebay, I guess one is on the way to us. In the meantime I put the front plate on the dash.

Almost 20 years ago my little S-10 pickup had a front bracket, but I put a Texas Lone Star Flag plate in it instead of the license.

Was stopped on I-35 north of Austin by a DPS trooper who issued me a verbal warning, in spite of me telling him it was unTexan to make me take that plate off.

He just laughed, which was understandable because he had been one of my students in a middle school Texas History class about 15 years before.

Guess I'm lucky he didn't cuff & stuff me and haul my behind in to the hoosegow.

If you check out the traffic going by, you'll notice that maybe upwards of 10% of the vehicles you see won't have front plates installed.

Skene Design makes a plate holder that allows you to display your plate without drilling into the front face of your bumper. It costs the same as the dealer bracket.

Contact the dealership where you bought your Honda and tell them what happened.

The car came from the factory with the front plate bracket in a plastic bag in the trunk area. The new car prep boy at the dealership removed those for states with no front plate and they throe them in a box or pile.

They have them sitting around so if they are nice, they'll give you one for free since in reality, you did buy it with your car.
