Bill Hecke (now in Killeen) is the best and most accurate, IMO. Don't get his TV station on my TW in Round Rock, but catch him on the radio now & then. He's been all over Austin & the world, it seems.

Jimmy Fidler used to be a good weatherman on Channel 7 back in the 1970s. He drew pretty good weather front pictures to illustrate his forecasts. He was the first nationally know radio weatherman in the 1930s. His long & distinguished career ended on a sad note after a criminal violation.

My favorite will always be Gordon Smith. Hand extended, with the invitation: "Let's take a look at the weather".

Yes, Gordon was a good one.

Nowadays, everyone's trying to be a fashion model.

Sam Champion will always be my favorite. He was a local weatherman, (well local as the CBS affiliate for New York City, and then he moved to GMA) but oh how I loved his sparkling smile. He was replaced by Lonnie Quinn who is every bit as shiny and handsome. As my husband and I prepare for our move to Texas from the Northeast I’ve often wondered if there will be a meteorologist with whom I connect. It’s important stuff!!! So this thread made me smile!!! I’m taking notes to be sure!!!

Another reminder that I'm getting OLD!!! Many of the "pretty" faces of news and weather(say from the '80s or so) are getting up in years and have changed appearance in a big way!!! Some held on for dear life, others aged gracefully, others are now facing various accusations of misconduct!!!

(Actually, nothing has so dramatically illustrated the aging of MY lifetime as watching Neil Diamond through the years. I first "discovered" him in 1970 or so and danged if we haven't BOTH aged a bit in five decades!!!)

My current favorites are these two young ladies on KXAN - Natalie & Rosie. Not only are they all-business meteorologists, they are also very easy on my old eyes....

I'll agree with my neighbor about the young weatherpersons. Chikage almost bought a house around the corner from us. She was a solid brunette when she first arrived and I would say she didn't look quite so
"meteorological" before she added the highlights. I'm guessing someone thought she looked TOO young(can I say 'hot'?) !!!

I DO prefer when the chief meteorologi-folks talk about what MIGHT happen vs predicting five inches of rain and only a half-inch falls...and luckily, most of the "maybe" forecasts can be divided up among "hill country", IH 35 corridor and points east. This last "event" was a good example of how they could explain that the entire viewing area can't be forecast in one swoop during such an occurrence.

I might only watch KXAN in the morning because of David Yeomans. But I may also turn it off because he has two navy suits and rotates between the two of them.
