Just looking for information from employees. Do you like it? Atmosphere? How long have you worked here?

I know they have nothing to do with railroads.

My dad worked for Southern Pacific for a few years post retirement. Maybe he knows something about it. I'll ask him.

It is the oldest good ol boy network still around in the country and is a political cog in Texas politics. They deal quite a bit with pipelines and oil and gas.

That is all they deal with. They had their railroad responsibilities taken away from them and handed over to TxDOT a very long time ago. I have no idea why they never changed the name.

I mailed an application to them last week for an administration job and they called me today for an interview. So, I'll be in Austin at the end of this weekd to interview. Just wondered what everyone's thoughts were on them. Someone had told me that it was a good agency to work for and hard to get on with them.

It may be a good agency to work with from an employee perspective. At the top levels, it is hogwash, but in the rank and file it might be very good, I don't know. Don't let my disdain for the agency be confused with a potentially good job .
