We are trying to turn a small rose garden into paver patio. However it has a small part of sprinkler system under it to water the garden. Can we just cap it off or have it professional removed before we put paver patio over it?
Thank you

I would cap and leave it. It does no harm.

Cap it and leave it, but make sure you do it right.

Some sealant on the threads, probably, but yes, buying a cap that fits (is it a threaded or smooth connection?) and making sure the capped piece is not pushed on by the pavers is about 99% of the job.

As someone who has spent probably 50 hours in the last year digging up and repairing sprinkler pipes that have cracked and broken because of the ground shifting due to the drought and water restrictions, I recommend cutting it and capping it at a point BEFORE it goes under your proposed paver area. If you cap it anywhere down the line after that point, you may have to remove your pavers to repair it. Or worse, it may break under your pavers, show no sign of leakage because it's covered by the pavers, and you'll wonder why your water bill suddenly goes through the roof.

Good advice, I too have had to repair several breaks in lines that were buried and hard to detect that there was a leak.
