I know several families who send their kids to AIS, and it's a school we checked out for our own daughter. The friends I have whose children go there like it a lot and I was pleased with what I saw of it when our daughter spent two days visiting as well. (We speak French and French is the primary language taught in the lower grades; Spanish is added over time.) The facility is beautiful and they are building a middle school as well.

The reason we chose not to go with AIS is the tuition cost. It is *very* expensive, especially when you consider that the school has 3-4 extra weeklong closures for random breaks and extra vacations during the school year. (AISD and most other private schools do not close like this.) I wasn't sure that AIS' academic ratings merited the high cost, although the value of becoming trilingual is in itself considerable.

If you can't take many extra vacations during the school year, AIS does offer "camps" during these closures which are paid for separately above and beyond tuition. When I factored in the cost of all of these camps (husband and I work fulltime and can't take this additional time off) plus the tuition, it worked out to be something like $1600/month just for preschool for our daughter. The tuition rates go up as the children go up in grade level--kindergarten was going to be about $1800/month.
