First, came Wal-mart. (I know, haha)

Then came the mega shopping center at 45/685.

Then came retail all along FM 685.

Then came Hawaiian Falls Water Park.

Now we're getting a "Main Event" style family fun entertainment center.

I know, not a big deal to many who don't live in the city, but I'm just so amazed at the growth of our little city. Not so long ago, the biggest retailer was Albertsons. That should tell you something. Dated strip malls. If you needed anything, you had to drive - either to Round Rock or Austin. Forget about fun things to do and dining out. What a difference a decade makes. Today there are so many retailers taking notice of Pflugerville. Maybe it's because we show our shopping center a lot of love? Most of our spending dollars are now in Pflugerville. And even better, our house is three minutes from just about everything.

I liked the semi-rural days of old, when a cow getting loose on 685 caused a traffic jam. But it's nice that we can keep it local and the city tries hard to keep it local.

Nice. The 25 full-time positions and 55 part-time jobs will certainly contribute to the local economy. Plenty of people looking for work. (just like in Temple, that's a crazy turn out)

We're also getting another mixed use town center type deal in the 685/Pflugerville Pkwy area! This is supposed to bring even more retail, dining, and apartments. It's becoming pretty dense in that corridor now.

The concept drawings of that proposed town center look pretty cool. As much as one billion in capital investment going in. I hope they can connect that area pretty well with the surrounding land via roads/sidewalks/trails etc.
