I think I'll have to tell my husband about that one. He likes saying "Dirty Sanchez" so he'd probably get a kick out of it. And he'd order it too.

Tried Torchy's on Wednesday morning. Pretty disappointed. Got the Monk (egg, bacon, green chilis, cheese) and an egg, potato, chorizo. Very small and very little ingredients other than egg. Egg in breakfast tacos should just be binder to hold together the good stuff not the main thing. I didn't know what was on the Monk until I got to work and looked at the website. Didn't taste any of the other ingredients. They're pretty expensive too. You get better tacos, bit larger, far better ingredient ratio, and actually hot, hot sauce at the various Porfirio's Taco trailers around town but for only $1.25. I'll try them again for lunch it could be that's where they shine.

That's really what we go there for. I personally like the Baja shrimp and the fried avacado(these are two different ones). I think I had a trailer park once but it was just a chicken taco...not my favorite and kind of boring. Also the sauce you use could greatly affect the overall taste. There's a few to choose from.

Ken's Taco's suck! Someone treated me to one and I felt like I was eating roast beef with country gravy wrapped in a flour tortilla. I miss the Mexican food restaurants on the west coast. I haven't found anything comparable here.

If you like CA mexican food, try Abuelo's. It's really good...

It's great that you miss West Coast food and all (well, maybe you don't think it's so great), but you won't find West Coast Mexican since this is not most places priority to specialize in all things California down here. Maybe you should just go on a taco quest to every place around. I'm sure you'll eventually find something that even barely comes close to what you're accustomed to. That's what we did when we lived in Colorado. Some of the best tacos, I've found, are at Mexican meat markets or Carnecerias. Go into hispanic dominated parts of town or East of 35. I bet you'll find better tacos there than downtown in a fancy place. Even just a taco cart or stand.

I miss the 65 cent tacos from the Tamale Hut on Airport. I don't know if they are the best but they sure are good and cheap on a Sunday morning. They don't have air conditioning because as their sign says, they'd have to raise the price of the tacos. It was years ago that I lived near Airport so the price probably has gone up since then.

The best breakfast tacos I've ever had is a place in Palacios called Maricela's. At the moment I'm living on the East coast where we have to make our own migas.

Yep, all the way up to 85 cents now and worth every penny. Not open on Sunday so the menudo from the nearby La Canaria is the best remedy for la cruda.
