Check into sash replacement...no need to replace the entire window(if you're lucky). I replaced nine sashes in our 1950s rancher...the installation per window was almost the same cost as the sash replacement units---approx $200 per/depending on size.

Just a few months ago, I looked into this, and chose The Glass Guru to replace about 10 panes at out house. I would definitely use them again.

Thanks for your recommendation,10scoachrick & mascro !

It seems that I can use the foggy glass repair service for my window. Does anyone know how well it works and how long it will last? It says that it costs 50% less than replacing it. Now the question is that if it only lasts another one or two years, isn't it better to replace it now?

Where are the windows? Very visible to you or the folks walking by? Direct sunlight or wind? The anti-fog deal is just a cosmetic fix. Your new replacements should have argon gas, low-e coating, etc for energy efficiency. Do these windows operate?...or are they fixed? I'm not sure a company would charge a reasonable price for only a couple of replacements or 'fixes'. Watch out for high-pressure sales pitches on windows.

One is visible to anybody who visits our house, it is in the family room. One is in the master bedroom, visible to anyone in the backyard. Two are upstairs in the game room. All are south facing to the direct sunlight. And I think that is the reason it gets foggy quicker than others.

Thank you for your warn, I will get several quotes to know the price range first.

I used Trent Hankins of Aeromass Glass to do just this last month and was very pleased. We had over 20 windows to replace in this manner, and his price was by far the best of the many I called.
