Default Lunch Suggestions

You have plenty of great local options for lunch. These are all very close to the State Hospital:

Mandola's - this is an Italian restaurant/market. It's at the Triangle, a development across the street (north) from the hospital.

Central Market - yes, this is a grocery store, but they have a very good Cafe. Just south of the hospital on North Lamar.

Kerbey Lane Cafe - great food, very "Austin". Located on Kerbey Lane just off 38th. Awesome place for breakfast!

Maru - Japanese, good sushi, BYOB, and inexpensive. At the corner of Burnet and 47th.

Sampaio's - Brazilian cuisine. Also at Burnet and 47th.

Blue Star Cafeteria - sort of an upscale cafeteria. Right next door to Sampaio's.

Omelettry - the opposite of Blue Star - definitely a "diner". At the corner of Burnet and 49th.

Billy's on Burnet - very laid back; burgers, sandwiches and stuff; great onion rings. At the corner of Burnet and Hancock.

The Sandwich Joint - across the street from Billy's.

I could go on but you only have three days to fill.

If you need to go up to Ikea, try exiting off of I-35 at Howard Ln. On the northeast corner there is an excellent restaurant called KaProw. It has sushi as well as "Pan-Asian" cuisine. An awesome atmosphere!

Try the Hyde Park Bar & Grill...the menu is nothing unique...but the food is awesome for a decent price. Best fries in Austin!
