I don't feel Dallas is more progressive at all. It's much more conservative and very suburban.

UT a country college? HAHAH! A&M maybe, but there is no "country" anywhere near UT.... it's right in the heart of the city.

For the record, I find the majority of your posts to be trollish. I don't even know why you live in Austin if you think it's so boring.

Well, without the bar scene Austin would be truly boring.

So I am sure I know what you mean.

It isn't based on a FEELING for me.

It is based on simple facts.

*Cathedral of hope located in Dallas is the largest GLBT Church in the Nation. Over 2,000 members.

*THE Sherrif of Dallas is a hispanic lesbian.

*All the judges in Dallas are democrats.

BUT

The cities around Dallas especially cities in Collin County are ultra conservative!

(As for Austin)
* Hill Country is right down the road by about 10 miles from UT. So for me it is pretty country.

Hey man, If you love Austin and think it's amazing. Then good for you. I might be considered to be a high maintanance person, hence I will have way different views.

He got you, didn't he (and I guess me too)? Anyway, yes I find his posts trollish as well, just take a look at this thread --

he starts out with "Austin is boring"

follows up with "Austin isn't progressive"

then finally "Gay+Democrat = progressive"

how is that anything but trollish?

But back on topic, yes, Austin has grown but it is still the most desirable city in Texas for most people. You hear/see a lot of "Austin is the only city in Texas I would consider living in" coming from out-of-staters. Where there is smoke there is fire, and that still applies today.

It's not for everybody, and I'm happy that these threads discuss the good and the bad. I think overall, when someone comes asking for a place that is "good for family and I'll get a great house for cheap," we usually point them towards SA, Dallas or Houston where there is real affordability.

Exactly. Look at his posting history - not just this thread - and it's almost nothing but unsupported "Dallas rocks, Austin sucks" hogwash. The only reason he's providing back up now is because he's been called out and trying to prove us a liar.

In striking contrast to the Dallas thread. There is an almost eerie lack of self criticism over there by the locals that provides for an unsettling pod people vibe. Just from the threads alone I would think Dallas was the greatest place on earth if I hadn't already lived there.
