To me, yes. I found San Diego pretty but boring when I visited, while L.A. has variety. Depends on what you're after in life, I guess.

Not true. Most Texans like Austin well enough, but those of us from larger cities or a bit more well-traveled have a hard time seeing what all the fuss is about, with many aspiring to live or retire *gasp* out of the state or country even! Such comments are a good example of the kind of Cali-tude that is spoiling Austin.

(And even if it were true, I certainly wouldn't brag about it, considering most Texans.)

How hot does it get in summer during the day vs. evenings? I'm curious.

Summers in Houston are not usually as hot as Dallas or Austin or San Antonio, but usually are more humid and therefore can feel hotter. The humidity also keeps the temperature from dropping too much most nights, and the relative humidity rapidy rises as the air does cool a bit, so in the morning it can often feel very 'thick' and you are much more likely to have some fog.

On the other hand, as the sun goes down in the evening, the air can be relatively pleasant compared to the inland cities, since the absolute temperature is not as high.

As for actual temps, I am not sure. Houston is probably just a few degrees (2 or 3?) warmer at night, on average, than Austin.

Okay, here is a short summary of average highs and lows by month....
