Up until a few months ago, we were paying $100 a month for 4,000 sq ft. They put sheets on 2 beds, cleaned the usual things. No laundry or dishes. I keep a *very* tidy house. Now they want $120. Just seems overpriced...thats about $22 an hour.
Just seeing if I am wrong-o.

NO WAY!! you have been getting away with murder! $100 for a MONTHLY clean of a 4000 sq foot house, is unbelievably cheap.

Five years ago, I was paying $110-20 for a weekly clean of 2300 sq feet. No laundry or dishes. And weekly cleans are generally cheaper.

I pay $210 if monthly or $170 every two weeks for a ~3500 sq ft home, no laundry, or dishes, makes the beds or change sheets if we leave new sheets on top of the beds and they put the dirty ones in the washing machine.I tried to see if they would do laundry for more money but they said no, schedule is too tight.

@ Eirencat - is it just one person or a team? If a team, can you share their contact details

@ Janejane - can you also share their contact details, pretty please.. that is uber cheap...:-)

The last 3 cleaners I've had were $80, 85, & 90 every two weeks for 3900 sqft. Each were sloppy, always late, always rescheduling on top of my time, and breaking things. We let the last one go 3 months ago, and I'm willing to go up to $110 every 2 weeks if it helps ensure an on-time crew who won't break things.

The last one does several in my neighborhood, and I've talked with a couple of the others, and they also say her crew is bad, but they don't have time to find someone new, so she continues to do a poor job and doesn't get that she's going to lose more jobs once I find someone new and refer the new person to everyone. I'm waiting until school starts to get someone new because it's too hard to keep the house cleaned in the summer when the entire neighborhood is here.

That's what I was going to say! I pay $130 each time for bi-weekly cleaning. 3100 square feet, 2-story, 4BR, 3.5 BA, with a dog who sheds a lot. We have a team of 3-4 people who come, so they knock it out pretty quickly.
