Just was at Rudy's and there was a French couple ordering and I heard a German family and a group of British lads. This was in the same line.

F1 time, the only time our city is actually international!

Looks like the weather is much better than last year too.

It was a splendid day at the track. The weather was nothing short of perfect. The international vibe is great and foreigners LOVE to chat with locals. Had several great conversations today including one with a few Swedes who kept saying how awesome the views were. COTA made some good improvements over the past year but a warning - they shrunk down the T1 general admission area quite a bit with the addition of more seats. It's a little awkward walking around the stands to access food & restrooms now. Arrive early on race day to sit there before the lawn becomes an impassible zoo.

I'll be there tomorrow. Good to see parking in paved lots instead of those grass parking lots near the landfills.

I love F1 for the simple reason that it brings in the max revenue to the area with the LEAST amount of disruption to the lives of locals! Zilker park is free and open today, the trail is available, parking for both is easy, the lake is half empty, traffic flows everywhere. Lovely

You know what? I'm tired of hearing people say "Austin is so white" "Austin isn't diverse" "Austin isn't international"

Did you know that 35% of Austin is Hispanic? That means within the last few generations their families became Texan, or they were here before Texas was even America. Thirty five percent. Only 33% is white non-Hispanic.

Wtf does that have to do with this post? By definition, if you are born here, you are not an international .

By international, he means European and Aussie racing enthusiasts.

The 25+ H1Bs/H4s who arrive everyday don't count (25% of new arrivals). Apparently neither do the 1000s of illegals streaming over the border into Texas and, yes, the Austin metro every month.

But on serious note if you want to be constantly surrounded by "international" people Austin isn't where you should be. It's like saying you live in Austin because it snows. Yeah, once a year for five minutes.
