Hi!
My husband is flying down from Seattle for an interview with a prospective company.
The company is located on 'N.Capital of Texas Highway', which I'm assuming is downtown?
What neighborhoods would be a good for him to check out while he's there? He'd prefer not to have a crazy long commute. Our home range would be <330k, in a good school district, lot of kids, etc, etc.

At first I thought Round Rock and Pflugerville would be a good fit, but after reading some threads it sounds like the commute is a long one. I think Circle C would be a good one for him to check out?

Any and all help would be very much appreciated. Thank you sooo much!

There are tons of nice neighborhoods around N. Capital of Texas Hwy (aka 360) and that is where I would start searching. I'm sorry that I can't help you with specific neighborhoods there but I'm not sure what is available in your price range. I think it would be very worthwhile for you to contact a realtor and have him/her show you around while you're here just to get an idea of what is available in your price range in that area.

Also, N. Capital of Texas Hwy is not downtown. It is in Northwest Austin close to what is normally referred to as the Arboretum area. The Arboretum is a shopping center. This is one of the most beautiful areas in Austin...very hilly and scenic.

If you want to look at some homes in the general area, go to AustinHomeSearch.com and search under area 1N.

Circle C in my opinion is too far south to be a good commute.

Sorry I couldn't be more help but I hope this at least gets you started. Good luck to your husband with his interview!!

If he's on N. COT Highway, I'd check out Cedar Park if you are looking at new homes/new construction. Lots of new developments, and he'd be less than 30 minutes for his commute, give or take.

Check out the Northwest Hills/Far West area. His commute would be a quick trek down Spicewood Springs. Plus you'll be in a nice neighborhood w/ easy access to Mopac (the better of the two highways to get you to downtown). I think you can find something nice in your price range.

Good luck

Just off of 360/2222 is Steiner Ranch. You mentioned Kids and Schools. Steiner is in an award winning school district and in my opinion is the best commmunity for families. It has tons of sidewalks, parks, community center, pools, etc. Lots of trees and near the lake. $330K right now can get you a large 3/2 bath or a mid size 4/2 bath around 2500sqft or so you will have to look around though, since the home cost is rising here, if you can afford to go up to high 300s you can get alot more space...large back yards on some of the homes depending on the area inside of Steiner.

The area is building new shops/resturants/dentist/doctor facilities inside of Steiner Ranch with the goal of never having to leave your community.

I communte into downtown for work and it is within 30 minutes for me. .Without traffic of course, during rush hour, this can change alot.
