Considering buying a waterfront lot in the hollows, as my wife and I like the large lots with trees right on the cove. However we are hesitant because of previous foreclosures/lawsuits involving this development. Anyone have any input on this? The $1500/year HOA fees are pricey, and we want to ensure that money is being well spent. Another concern is that we are young and want to live in a lively community with other young families.
Does anyone live or know someone who currently lives in the development that can share their two cents?

I've read other threads that briefly touch on this, but nothing too recent has come up.

We are open to suggestions for other developments in the Austin area that may offer a great family environment.

I have checked out property for a friend in the Hollows a couple years ago. Back then I was told it is more for retirees but I don't know if that's changed.
There has been and still is a lot of turmoil around the Hollows that I am not totally clear on but I will say this, I would be extremely careful buying in the Hollows. The HOA rule book is the size of a novel. I have noticed that there is a high turnover rate in houses from that particular area.
