Pffft! This is somewhat below the bathroom bill (BB) in importance/significance. People will laugh you off the street if you go strutting around with a machete or sword, almost guaranteed. It is kind of the opposite of the BB, in fact - it is removing a restriction that is probably completely pointless anyway.

Well, we certainly can't call ourselves a diverse multi-cultural city if we don't open our arms to swashbucklers, knights, Sikh soldiers, Cajun coon skinners, GoT role players, jungle brushbusters, and members of The Jets, now can we?

Well, it WAS odd that one couldn't carry a Bowie knife, considering Bowie's role in the Revolution. I grew up with one around the house(along with bayonets); but I'll have to settle for my mini-Rambo or compact machete to celebrate the new law.

Well in all or most states it is legal to carry a sword around in public places as well. Pocket Knives and switch blades are of another concern. I am more interested in carrying around unloaded AK-47 with blanks and things like that. I see people with machetes all over the place but they are used for gardening mostly.

Can you list those states where it's legal to carry a sword? I haven't been able to find a decent list...too much chatter about the new law in TX.

Well, from a few years back, but still an entertaining read:
