I have found a lot amidst an existing neighborhood (possibly demolished house). Anyone have experience in hiring a builder to build on your own lot? Who are the popular builders for building a standard spec style home and nothing fancy? Also any pitfalls with this approach of buying a lot and hiring a builder? other than finances tied up to the land purchase....

Appreciate inputs from folks that have done it before.

david weekley and drees have a build on your lot programs. They are both solid tract home builders.
