You can take back roads that lead you to 360/Courtyard Drive. I do it all the time to get to work on 360, and there's no traffic. You still have to deal with 360 to Rob Roy, but that's really not too bad.

I will be working at Addie Roy Rd, in the Rob Roy West part of town.

Wife is a legal secretary/paralegal, so we don't know what part of town she would be working out, but it would be around 6 months before she would start working.

We are pretty simple folks so nothing too extravagant, we're trying not to spend more than 1700 on a 2 bed apartment. A pool would be nice.

Good maps has it as a 15-30 minute commute during rush hour at 7-8AM on a weekday to get from River Place to my work.

Thank you
Yikes that is far! Expect a 45 minute commute there from Riverplace.

There are families in RP. Riverplace Elementary is the elementary and feeds into Four Points Middle School and that feeds into Vandegrift High School.

you are working off bee caves, I would not live in the riverplace area if I was working off addie roy. There are lots of apartments close by where you are working that would be an easier commute. For example there is a duplex for 1600, 1100 sq ft and an apartment with about the same square footage off bee caves between 360 and mopac.

Im seeing quite a few places with 2 br 1.5 bath, 1000 sq ft for 1600 in 78704. That puts you in the heart of austin, with a reverse commute to bee caves.

If you live in 78704 you can walk/ride a bike to zilker, be close to a lot of the coolest restaurants. Be close to downtown where all the legal work is and have an 8 mile commute to addie roy rd.

We have also been looking at Bee Cave, TX. There are some nice apartments there, and it is a 10 minute drive to work in no traffic, less than 20 minutes drive at around 7 or 8AM.

What are peoples thoughts on Bee Cave? The average home price is... expensive, so it seems like an affluent place? is it keep up with the Jones'? as we're pretty down to earth people, not your typical hover parents and yoga mom/dads! We don't want to be looked down on!

Bee Caves is everything you just said you didn't want, it's keeping up with the Joneses, hover/helicopter parents and yoga moms.

If you want more granola types you'll have to be closer in.

If you're heading to Addie Roy road, there are other options to consider.

There are some apartments by Southwest Parkway & William Cannon (Lantana Ridge, for example) where you could commute to work about 15 minutes via Barton Creek Blvd. Pool on the property. Or Preserve at Travis Creek is another in that area.

Or some apartments closer in from where you first started looking, such as near the intersection of 2222 & Loop 360 or 2222 & City Park Rd. Several complexes in that area.

Or there are some rentals in the Cuernavaca & Austin Lake Hills area, which is very close to Addie Roy. Even though it's in the Eanes district, that particular area is more eclectic and anti-Stepford, with older homes and apartments that are more affordable than the surrounding area. 10 minutes from Addie Roy.

An apartment locator could help you out. There are multiple options that could work for you.

what is the point of the forum if not to give people advice as best we can? Every post could have your unhelpful reply.

The information here is a starting point when someone comes down.
