Starting at about 20% higher than he was making at his previous tech job (10 years there and 10 years before that at Dell).
Line worker level only.
At least they offer full benefits, so there’s that.

To be fair I actually took a pay cut at Dell despite them having a much larger presence and bigger name in Austin. I ate it because I went almost all of 2020 looking for a job but I'm looking to make up for the gap now. The tech market seems to be on fire right now.

Does anyone happen to know who to call in Travis County for background check related issues? I have a friend who's trying to get one from a background check compnay and they are waiting on Travis County and Travis County seems to have taken their time on it (3+ weeks) - is there anyone they can speak to to get the ball rolling?

A group of 300 factory workers? If I was still working I think I would like to get hired on there. If it pays good enough and don't need a college degree, I may come out of retirement.

What exactly do they need to provide? Fingerprints, search of employment, criminal record, drug screening, other? What one company requires in a "background check" can vary from another's requirement. Some info can be gathered entirely online (via public records or background seach services), but if fingerprints or drug screening is needed, there are local providers such as IdentoGo who will adminster those in-person. APD used to offer fingerprinting services on Wednesdays for a nominal fee, but that was suspended at the begining of COVID...not sure where it stands now.

If it’s the Identigo type that is required by the government god bless and good luck. I’ve had to do 3-4 of those in my six years here; for jobs and licensing purposes.

My wife had to do those background checks annually to be a volunteer Sunday school teacher assistant for her Catholic church parish.
To bad the Vatican didn’t require the same for all their priests in past generations.

Not sure how extensive the BG check is. I know a company called HireRight is conducting the check and they seem to be coordinating with Travis County but are stating that Travis County is taking longer than usual.
