If the kids voted on it and want that, go for it. Theyre high school aged so old enough to decide what they want to do for something as inconsequential as this.

For sure! Look at the GOP

But really, this is pretty inconsequential. Let them decide for themselves...

It is high school, so it's not a left vs. right issue. It's a Left vs. Teenage Apathy issue.

When they start having Co-ed sports teams and uni-sex bathrooms then maybe more of the kids will start paying attention, and political opposition will form.

Sure, it is normal to have quarter of kids on a class identifying as transgenders. Healthy outlook for life.

Best way obviously is to encourage this already at home for 3 year olds:

Default punishing the 1%

The reason why students would back this measure is because it affects an extremely small portion of the student population. 99% of the students have no chance of being prom king or queen, and this is a way to stick it to the popular/successful kids. The students will learn early that they can punish the 1% through a pseudo-government vote like this, and will carry that lesson into adult hood.

Let's be honest, this is a "democratic" way to tell wealthy, hetero, successful, (presumably white) students to check their privilege.
