So far I'm really liking the weather in Texas and can't believe there aren't as many days where it gets up to 90 or higher, I thought the hot weather usually kicks in starting the month of May.
This an anomaly year, normally we're into the mid 80's / low 90's by now. We've just been given a break.

In terms of getting below freezing? .. 30's and high 20's are not super uncommon but its usually going to stay around the mid 40's - low 50's during the winter.

Did you see the link I posted where it said we're actually "average" for the month?

we dont swim until it is 90 and we typically are swimming by the end of may, but sometimes in may. This may is nice, but doesnt seem atypical.

Dont worry, the heat is coming and will be relentless from june - sept. Typically by october it starts to cool down and the end of october is almost always nice.

Actually, your link showed it has been below average. A chart below shows the average, 25th/75th bands, and 10th/90th bands.

For today (May 14th), 90-percent of the time it is ~79.5 F or warmer for a high, and 75 percent of the time it is over ~82.5 F.

Anyway, the last few days were in the 10th percentile or rarer range. The next week or so will be in the 25th or so.

What you might also notice from that graph is the fact that the low temp becomes very consistent - and not cool - as you proceed through the month of May. By June, the temperature will rarely get below 76 or so at night. That is what some people notice more than the daytime highs.

It felt average to me. But, the real answer is, global warming. This will devolve into a thread of scientists and climate change deniers. Just wait until the summer. It’ll be warmer.
There is no such thing as a climate change denier.

I'm enjoying this weather. Let it stay this way through June and July. We're getting some heavy showers, I don't have to run my sprinkler system, my lawn is green, and I can actually use my sunroof here and there

Default Are 90+ degree days common in October?

I'm wondering about that because this is my first year living in close to Austin, TX (Pflugerville to be exact), I was surprised how mild the first half of this summer was, I know the last few weeks have been a real scorcher, I'm already looking forward for Fall and cooler nights where I can sleep with the window open (I'm from Washington State).
