Ouch.
Baltimore is a much older city and has had a team since the 1940s, with the exception of the break between the Colts and the Ravens. Why is it a stretch that they have a team now? They've proven that they can and will support an NFL team.

Teams don't want to move to San Antonio because the fan population there is already pretty loyal to either Dallas or Houston (mostly Dallas). They're not going to suddenly jump ship to a new team after being Cowboys fans for generations. Small fan base = low amount of $$ to be made (relatively speaking)

you cant really go by city, you have to go by metro area. For example buffalo is 235K, but the metro is 1M.

Austin is around #29 as far as metro areas go.

Here is a list of metro areas with NFL teams

Yes they would. As a matter of a fact, this is one of the biggest reasons Jerry Jones blocked the San Antonio bid.

With the Buffalo case, you need to look beyond the primary metro area. Rochester's metro area adds another 1M; not to mention the Canadian population (Southern Ontario, up to Toronto - MSA stats do not cross borders).

Rochester/Toronto markets together are basically several million within a two hour or less drive to Orchard Park, NY.

I'd venture an educated guess that maybe 40% of the home crowd at a Bills game are have from outside the Buffalo MSA described here for much of the past few decades.

Similar situation with the Green Bay Packers, who draw people from Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin.

I WAS referring to metro areas. And I was referering to the fact that Austin is one of the largest metro areas in the US without an NFL team (in the top 5, I believe), not that it's one of the top 5 largest metro areas in general.

It has nothing to do with anything San Antonio can improve upon.

Ouch.

This. Jerry Jones is not going to let a metro of 2.6 million get a team and lose out on all that revenue.

Nobody wants to take on the Cowboys. Houston was just big enough to get their own team. Another team in Texas will never work.

Houston had a pro football team before Dallas did.

Austin could support a team but this is an empty threat by the Bills ownership as others have pointed out. Curious though, how deep is the Cowboys support there?

Lot of Cowboy fans here and a decent number of Texans fans; however, it is the concept of building a stadium with tax money for a billionaire that galls many people.
