My family and I are moving to Round Rock in 2 weeks and need a house to rent. Criteria...4 BR good area with schools and pets allowed. I see a lot of real estate agents on here posting...please contact me soon we are needing a place quick. I believe the company I am going to work for is moving to the east side but I live in Vegas, driving isnt a issue since I drive 50 miles a day to work and pick up my kids. Also after reading some posts...no backing up to a greenbelt...appearently it brings more snakes and scorpions. I was also told that having a brick fence helps as well but all the houses I have looked at online have wood fences.

Also, use Austinhomesearch.com and put in Lease, if you are willing to Lease. For Round Rock, use Sonoma or Round Rock Ranch for the subdivision name, and that will put you in a good area with adequate schools. I had two girls go to Blackland Prairie, and were happy at the time with the lesson plans, etc.

Also, $1400 may get you closer to 2K sq. ft. in either neighborhood.

I use craigslist like crazy for everything and have found a few houses we have liked...still trying to find the right one seeing as it will be a sight unseen situation and a little concerned about area even though everyone has said Round Rock is a great place all around. I will try the austinhomesearch...thanks for the tips.

You won't really find any "bad" areas in Round Rock.
