I will be relocating to Austin soon and was wondering if anyone knows the area around the 2 Carmax locations? There is a North store and a South store, both are on 1-35. I will be floating between the 2 stores and am willing to make up to about a 30 minute commute.

I think we are going to need a little more info as to what you want. There is a WIDE range of possibilities at that price range. Im in the process of signing a lease on a 2000 square foot house with an awesome yard in Round Rock which is within 30 minutes to both store... I think.

Like I said, I am looking for a small house, its just 2 of us and 2 dogs! Need a nice yard and safe area. I prefer more urban. I live in Baltimore and love the old rowhomes they have here. They have all been refinished and very urban with hardwood floors and open floor plans. Is there an area in the downtown/surrounding Austin areas that fit that type of description?

Not really. You may have to look around East Austin. Houston is the only city that has remodeled row homes, and they turned it into a sort of Artist enclave.

Try scofield farms. We used to rent at the apartment community within Scofield Farms. Easy access to I-35 and Carmax. Very well located with easy access to all major roads and shopping centres. I am sure you can find a house for that price range in Scofield.
