anyone know of a midwife that takes CHIP (kind of medicaid). would prefer one that delivers out of a hospital...either in a birthing center or maybe at home...don't know if chip will pay for a homebirth. about to apply. thanks!

hey there
I'm with CHIP and I'm pretty sure they won't pay for a home birth, although I never did ask them directly. They give you a list of whom you can see and the hospitals you can deliver at. I think it's fairly limited from what I remember. My visits have all been in a clinic (not the most nurturing place) but my Dr. is kind and I'm delivering in a really beautiful, home-like environment (Women's center at Round Rock Medical center). Once you get accepted you will get all the info you need. Best wishes!

I'm with CHIP and I'm pretty sure they won't pay for a home birth, although I never did ask them directly. They give you a list of whom you can see and the hospitals you can deliver at. I think it's fairly limited from what I remember. My visits have all been in a clinic (not the most nurturing place) but my Dr. is kind and I'm delivering in a really beautiful, home-like environment (Women's center at Round Rock Medical center). Once you get accepted you will get all the info you need. Best wishes!
