Lake Travis is down over 45 feet! It will continue to drop significantly over the next few months. It is really scarry looking out there!

The lake level generally climbs through the later winter/early spring, so it may climb back from the 45' before it starts to drop again.

Default limiting water use

Just wondering (prior to our relocation) if Austin, RR & Cedar Park have compulsory measures to limit water use in the summer.

Here in southern England we have had a hose-pipe & sprinkler ban for the past 2 years.

No Categ at this time it is voluntary, that is the problem. Mandadory water restrictions have not been implemented yet. Some areas in NE Austin near Taylor and Hutto have sufficient water supplies. Austin, Dripping Springs and downstream from Austin (San Marcos, Kyle, Buda,Creedmore, etc.) are all dependant on the same water supplies and they are getting very low. The LCRA regulates the water from the Highland Lakes including Lake Travis. They should have started mandatory restrictions a couple of years ago but I guess they were afraid of the impact on busineesses including golf courses and real estate values.

MAndatory restrictions kick in at certain triggers, but I am not sure what they are. I am certain we will be under them if the lake is not significantly higher this summer. Mandatory restrictions are tiered, but at certain levels they restrict the days you can water (by your address number) and eventually go to garden hose watering only. We were under the restrictions a few years back.
