Hi there,

I'm looking at subdivisions in Cedar Park or Round Rock - could anyone please tell me which subdivisions have NO power lines running through their communities, so I can narrow down my search?

Thank you so much!

forgot to mention that I will be renting for a year (up to $1,500 per month) and would like to live in the best school districts of those two towns and preferably in a community that is safe, family friendly, and fun (amenities).

Thanks!

I live in Chandler Creek subdivision in Round Rock, and looking out my window I don't see any power lines, and I see a rental or two during bike rides thru the neighborhood. Is there any advantage to the power being underground other than looks?

I'm not sure myself, brokeshoelace, but I've lived with power lines directly going through my backyard before in California, and it made lots of sizzling noises - I guess that can't be that good...

I'm not sure of the validity of a study 'they' did stating that living near power lines is very unhealthy to humans... not sure if being underground makes a difference for health reasons or not but it's definitely not pleasing to the eye.

Thanks to both of you - I already had my eye on Avery Ranch -- will check out Chandler Creek as well.

The main advantage is the lines are protected from damage due to mother nature. Up north, most new neighborhoods have the power underground to avoid problems during ice and snow storms. Down here they would be protected from high winds and trees coming down on the lines.

However, with the limestone around here, burying the lines must be very expensive. I guess it is not so bad if they are already digging for sewer and water lines.

Burying the lines can run about $5k for 100 ft...

There are a variety of areas that are good but honestly we don't have sizzling powerlines from what I've seen.
