Hello everyone, I was just wondering if any of you all might know what the singles scene is like in Austin, TX. Right now, I unfortunately live in Colorado Springs, CO and was considering attending UT-Austin when and if Governor Perry signs the proposed legislation that would give any military veteran in state tuition. Don't get me wrong, Colorado Springs and Colorado for that matter is a beautiful state, but this town and this state is one of the worst places for a single guy to be. Everyone here in Colorado is A: Already married or B: in a serious relationship and is already taken. I don't mean to sound like a whiner, but I wasn't afforded the opportunity to date in my early 20s because I made the DUMB decision to go into the Marine Corps. With that being said, I had the misfortune of being stationed in eastern North Carolina and learned that the civilian populace hated Marines in that part of the state so I just stayed on base and didn't go out because of their nasty attitudes toward the military. So, long story short, I wasn't afforded the opportunity to date while in the Marine Corps. I am not originally from Colorado (I'm a native of TN) so moving again won't be an issue. Just wanted to know what yall thought.

I lived in wilmington, nc for about the past 5 years before I moved to Austin. I assume you were stationed in Camp Lejeune. Many people weren't too happy with the attitudes of the marines that came down to wilmington for the weekend. I personally never had any problems, however. I am 25 here in Austin and the dating scene is similar to any major college town, which is good. Austin is as good of a place to find dating as anywhere.

There are military bases around Austin. And one huge one up in Killeen and most people seem to have no problem with military folks around here. Agree with the above also.

Texas is oil, cattle, land, barbeque and pretty women. You'd probably like it. I wish there were a dragstrip nearby though.
