I don't know how well mashed potatoes go with a picnic, but someone would have to bring those for the gravy. Then there's the fresh green beans. We'd have to have those, too.

I was going to add fresh tomato slices with pepper. Also skillet fried corn. Real good.
But, potato salad works for me. It's all good.

This is not a fried chicken concentric community. You Northerners need to seek new food groups. Chicken Fried Steak - now that's a food group. I suspect the next subject will be Crispy Cream Doughuts, if so leave me out of that equation.

Bill Miller BBQ actually has pretty good fried chicken. Golden Chick used to be good but has declined when it changed from Golden Fried to Golden Chick. Besides that, there are only the national chains I know of.

Chicken friend chicken is more comparable to a schnitzel than southern fried chicken.

But I think it's probably the closest thing to fried chicken you can find in most cafes and restaurants around here. That's why I mentioned it.

I think so, too.

imo, Threadgill's used to have a decent fried chicken breast, but I wish they'd cook it longer. I don't like it dry, but I like it cooked long enough to have no doubt that it's done.
