We're moving to Austin in 12 days. We're using Upack/ABX to move our things. We have a large flat screen tv. It won't fit in our car so we are going to pad the hell out of it and put it on the Upack trailer. Anyone ever done this? Wondering what the survival rate is. I love my big tv, I want it to survive the trip.

I might take it into a UPS store and get them to wrap it up for you like they were going to ship it so it stands a chance...but thats just me.

Our big TV made it here fine via ABF trailer. We, fortunately, had the original box and packaging. Our load did move a bit, but we tied off the stack every few feet (get a ton of rope and moving blankets -- use liberally).

TV was the last in, up against the bulkhead. Not sure if that helped or hindered -- just know we needed the TV diversion while finishing the trailer and cleaning!

Mucho luck on the move!

LCD or Plasma? And LCD hold up better.

We have a 52" Panasonic flat screen - plasma. We threw out the box for it last year but I did snag one on garbage day from one of my neighbors who also happened to buy a 52" flat screen. I think we'll pad the hell out of it, put it in the box and then place the tv box between two matresses near the bulkhead and tie it all down real good. Hope that works.

I'll need to hire someone in Austin to help us set up the home theater system and put the tv up. We're clueless on this stuff.

Plasma'ss are picky. They really want to be moved upright. so try to make sure it is not laying flat.

Thanks Woodinvilleguy - the tv will be upright (and hopefully remain that way!). I'll post an update after the move in a couple of weeks.

Hey just wanted to say that we have moved our big flat screen plasma TV two times in PODS without a problem. We also had the original packaging and just made sure it was packed tightly in the middle of the POD.
