Does anyone know if the lost creek annexation will change school zoning? EANES to AISD? Just wondering since it is one of the neighborhoods we are looking at moving to.

Thanks!

They are going to annex Lost Creek??

Seriously!

Wow, I'm surprised there isn't a big stink from all the residents. If you live in Austin city limits, I'm pretty sure you have to go to AISD school, as the property taxes are what pay for our schooling.

No, the annexation will not affect the school boundaries. Lost Creek will still be zoned to Eanes (Forest Trail Elementary, Westridge Middle School and Westlake H.S.).

This was a big issue in 2006 and there was a HUGE stink about it but ultimately the neighborhood lost. The businesses at the entrance of the subdivision have already been annexed and the residential homes are scheduled to be annexed in in 2014 or 2015 (I can't remember exactly) I just remember the homes were to be annexed in about 8 years after businesses.

The neighborhood was assured that it would still be zoned to Eanes but who knows? I guess that could change. However, I would estimate that at least 75%-80% of the kids at Forest Trail live in Lost Creek so Forest Trail would shrink to almost nothing if the neighborhood was pulled from its boundaries.

I don't know anything about the annexing, but i know that I live in Austin City Limits & my kid goes to RRISD schools....(& always has & probably always would).

Will there be any benefit for parks/greenspace work trails, if Lost Creek becomes part of Austin? I think it has for other areas.....& the local residents enjoy the benefits, fwiw.

Not sure what will happen to our parks and greenspaces. Right now they are maintained by our MUD which does an excellent job. Our water is also rated Superior. In addition, we are serviced by the Westlake Fire Department and the Travis County Sheriff's Department. The neighborhood is very happy with both.

I am afraid that at the end of the day our taxes will go up (we already know they will) and the level of our services will go down.

BTW, Davenport Ranch was annexed by Austin and they still feed into Eanes.

City boundaries have no effect on school district boundaries. Lost Creek will stay in Eanes.

It's like AustinAggie described... there WAS a huge uproar, lawsuits, loud town hall meetings... everything. In the end, the city prevailed... but one concession was a delay of 7 years (they were to annex effective in 2008, but it was pushed back to 2015 for the residential section.)

Lost Creek is to remain Eanes ISD, and in fact is surrounded by Eanes schools.. there are no AISD schools nearby. Westlake high is literally across the street from the subdivision.

I'm not sure what sort of things the city may do to the parks/greenbelts. We already have it pretty good in that department in Lost Creek. We have parks and a greenbelt trail, plus access to Barton Creek. Our Barton Creek entrance includes trails which connect to the "official" Barton Creek greenbelt trail. Perhaps after annexation, they will include that in the official trail and put up some more markers.

I am curious if Capitol Metro will begin serving Lost Creek after it is annexed. I'm sure most residents will not want it... but I think it would be a good thing. Lots of the office workers in the buildings right around Lost Creek & 360 could use it, and that would help traffic... and it would be nice to hop a bus to downtown or the airport. I've never understood why they don't have bus service along 360 (other than the neighborhoods not wanting it)... a bus route from Barton Creek Mall to the Arboretum would be well utilized.
