FWIW, celebrities have been buying up property in Austin and Central Texas and having homes here for a LONG time - it's not recent at all. The reason they do so? Well, for the same reasons that others do - because they like the area - and also because Austinites aren't particularly celebrity-happy and thus treat them like anyone else, like regular people, and so they can just be people here and run into the coffee shop to get a coffee or go out for BBQ or Mexican food or whatever and not HAVE to deal with star-struck fans.

South Beach in Houston is always filled with straight girls (at least when I go on Saturday nights). I think they have more fun in gay clubs --- not having to worry about drunk dudes grabbing at them and asking for their numbers! ha!
Funny story...... I was waiting outside of SoBe one night for my friend (he was parking the car), and these 5 or 6 women (I'd say in their 40s) walk up and this guy (a bit tipsy I'd say) was like, "Are you really all girls, or are those bras stuffed?!". After hearing his question, one of the women unbuttons her shirt, lifts up her bra, and shouts, "You tell me!"

I think it's kind of funny that the poster was trying to stare at her and get closer and yet irritated by the security, who I assume was there to prevent things like that. If you truly didn't care about celebrities, you wouldn't be staring/trying to get closer.

I wasn't trying to stare at her, in all honesty, I wouldn't have even recognized her had my friend pointed her out. She was drawing more attention to herself with the two douche bag security guards, (who were literally pushing people who got within six feet of her away), than if she had just been alone.
Anyway, she's pretty but not remarkable, and frankly looks like any attractive Austin female. I was trying to get a look to see if it was actually her, not so I could bum rush her like some desperate posse member.
In any case, I find it ridiculous that a club (private or not) would make exception for any celebrity by allowing over zealous, abrasive, and down right rude security guards tell me (or anyone else) where I can and cannot stand - I paid for my drinks, as did everyone else in that club, just like she did. Who gives a hoot if she's a celebrity or not.
