Anyone care to share names of reputable survey companies?

Did you not have a survey done when you purchased the house? Usually the title company orders the survey, and since they're insuring the title and it's ultimately their dollar on the line, they use the best one they can.

Or is this for something else?

OP, I'll see if I can get you a couple of names and send them to you via DM, since we're supposed to do that here. (Got my hand slapped once for recommending an inspector in a post and have never forgotten!)

You can recommend a restaurant but not a survey company?

It may be because THL is an RE agent. Could be construed as conflict of interest stuff.

Periodically, whenever anyone comes on and asks for a referral to a real estate professional of whatever kind, if the moderator notices they pop up and remind folks (all folks, not just agents) to send them via DM. I'd thought originally that only applied to real estate agents as far as posting a recommendation, but evidently it applies to anyone whose business involves real estate.

I think it's part of the "keep City-Data free of people who are only here to spam and might either pretend to be someone else and recommend themselves or get their business associates to recommend them" philosophy.

Not really, my experiance has shown they use the Surveyors that quote less than $450.

As the previous comments say, the title company holding escrow will order the survey for you. Talk with your agent.
